The Long Table

Policies

Terms of use

These terms govern use of thelongtable.pro and of any written publication sold through it. Using the site indicates acceptance of them. Where a purchase is made, the terms in force on the date of that purchase apply to it.

Eligibility

The site is intended for people aged 18 or over. It is not directed at minors, and no purchase may be made by or on behalf of anyone under 18. Where a payment is identified as having been made by a minor, it is refunded and access is withdrawn.

What is published, and what it is not

The Long Table publishes summaries of research literature. Nothing on this site or in any publication sold through it is professional advice of any kind — clinical, psychological, medical, legal or financial. Reading it creates no professional relationship of any kind between the reader and the publication or anyone connected with it.

Nothing published here is a diagnosis, an assessment or a treatment, and nothing published here is prepared for, or adjusted to, any individual's circumstances. No outcome of any kind is stated or implied. Research findings described here are reported as the researchers reported them, with their stated limits; they are not representations about what any reader will experience.

Licence to use the material

Where a publication is purchased, the buyer receives a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to read it and to keep one copy for personal use. That licence does not permit resale, redistribution, republication, public posting, sharing of access credentials, translation for distribution, or use of the material to train or fine-tune any automated system. The licence continues indefinitely unless it is terminated for breach of these terms.

Freely readable pages on this site may be quoted with attribution and a link. They may not be republished in full.

Intellectual property

The text, layout, name and visual identity of The Long Table are its property or are used under licence. Third-party research described here belongs to its authors and publishers; it is discussed under the ordinary conventions of citation and comment, and is not reproduced beyond what those conventions permit. Requests from rights holders regarding any material on this site go to support@thelongtable.pro and are dealt with promptly.

Availability

The site is provided as it stands. Reasonable efforts are made to keep it available and its content accurate, but no undertaking is given that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or continuously available. Pages may be revised, corrected or withdrawn. Where a page is corrected, the correction is recorded as described on the masthead.

Payment, delivery and disputes

Payment for any publication is taken by a third-party payment provider identified at the point of purchase, under that provider's own terms. Prices are shown at checkout in the currency stated there; taxes are applied where the buyer's jurisdiction requires it. Access details are sent to the email address given at purchase, ordinarily within minutes and in any case within 24 hours.

Where access does not arrive, or a charge appears that is not recognised, writing to support@thelongtable.pro is the fastest route to a resolution: access can usually be restored within a business day, and refunds are issued without argument within the period set out on the refunds page. Raising a dispute with a card issuer before contacting support is a slower path to the same outcome, and it is preferred that support is contacted first.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, liability arising from use of this site or of any publication bought through it is limited to the amount paid for the publication concerned. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, and nothing in them affects the statutory rights of a consumer, including rights under the Brazilian Consumer Protection Code (Lei nº 8.078/1990) and any equivalent rights in the reader's own jurisdiction.

Termination

Access to purchased material may be withdrawn where these terms are breached, in particular where material is redistributed. Where access is withdrawn for that reason, no refund is due.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Brazil, and the courts of Brazil have jurisdiction. Where the reader is a consumer resident elsewhere, this does not remove the protection of mandatory consumer rules of the country of residence, nor the right to bring proceedings in the local courts where local law provides for it.

Changes

These terms may be revised. The version in force is the one published on this page, with its effective date shown above, and revisions do not apply retrospectively to purchases already made.
